Wild Watermelon (quite literally)

Yes. Wild Watermelon... Installation #19 in the World of Color...

We've been having one of the colder summers on record this year so yesterday when it was a pleasant 73 degrees outside we all felt like we were melting (was that just me?) ... We have a back deck off our house that overlooks American Lake and gets sunshine from sun-up to sun-down so if it is ever warmer than 73 degrees outside than our house is 90+ on the inside. So - yesterday was perfect. Husband and I returned our cable box (no more cable!)... He said some parting words and had a little funeral for the box before it went in the car. So I spent the rest of last night with the charcoal grill, a good book, a twilight walk in the park with the dog and a few perfect slices of watermelon.

Yes. I did also finally put some corn on the cob onto the charcoal grill... wrapped in applewood smoked bacon. B.E.S.T. corn on the cob I've ever had. Perfectly salty and buttery sans the actual application of salt and butter... yum. I would have take a picture of this - but my belly was not thinking photo op at the time... Oh, and, confession: I don't really like bacon. So - while it seasoned the corn to perfection - I peeled it off and gave it to the hubs = one happy marriage.

  1. 77 here yesterday, felt a little warm until I remembered that it would probably be cooler without my coat on :)

  4. Hmmm... I wonder if it still counts as vegetarian if I only grill the corn in the bacon and then take the bacon off? I must admit, that sounds delicious!

I am SO READY for a nice stretch of real summer! But at least we're extra appreciative of the few nice days we're getting.
