Disappointment

A picture speaks a thousand words so for this one I have very little to say. I’m disappointed.

We took a field trip with some Tillicum Elementary students and went for a four mile walk out over Puget Sound at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. It was beautiful, there was wildlife, there were tired feet (about 10 minutes into the walk) and many pictures were taken. I prepared a photo scavenger hunt for the students and all along the path you heard shouts of “I found something red!!.... I see something that flies!!!”

I scrolled through the photos on the camera and smiled at the faces that beamed with excitement.

I pulled the memory card & stuck it in the lap-top.

“Card not readable on this computer”

I pulled the memory card & stuck it back in the camera.

“Card not formatted, would you like to format now?”

Flash back to the Fall of 2001. I stood shivering on the 50 yard line in a sparkly gold dress. I heard the announcer pause after “This year’s Homecoming Queen is...” (drumroll please)... “Christina Anderson!”

WHAAAA????? Crazy!

That night was so fun.

Sunday afternoon I’m crying, sitting on the floor of the Costco Photo Center. They just informed me that the 3 rolls of film I’d brought in to be exposed from Homecoming night... are blank. No photos. Only black...

So disappointed.

  1. Oh, my goodness, I could cry with empathy for you! I took 150 pictures recently when my kids and I went on a walk on the beach and somehow the memory card got messed up, and I was sooooo sad. It sounds like you had such a fun time. I'm so sorry for your loss in both of the situations you shared. (((hugs)))

  2. You can have those photos recovered if you haven't reformatted it already (and in some cases, even if you already did). They do it online for about $150, but I called a computer place in town and they were only going to charge $85. - The thing is that I could see the photos on my camera (but it sounds like you couldn't once you put the card back in) but they wouldn't download on my computer. I reset the whole camera to the way it came from the factory and then I was able to retrieve those photos. - I am so sorry about you not having your homecoming photos. That literally makes me sick to my stomach! I hope that others had photos of that night to share with you.
