Motion Sickness

Do we get lamer as we get older? What I mean by that is the swings used to be my favorite ride (that and the scrambler) and I could go on them forever. Now just standing and watching them makes me feel ill... So doing some long exposure shots was making me feel a little woozy.

Now everywhere I go - I pack a little ginger gum, ginger snaps, ginger vitamins, bonine, those silly bracelets with the pressure points... "less drowsy" dramamine (whatever that really means)...

Rabbit trail: A dramamine story.

I was headed to a conference for work and I knew there were some particularly windy (as in curvy, not breezy) streets on the path ahead. I wasn't driving so I thought I'd take some dramamine. It was the "less drowsy" kind and I know I didn't want to be sick for the conference so instead of the customary 1/2 pill - I decided to take two. whole pills. I was knocked out by the time we arrived and I was so tired I didn't care who saw me sleeping. I distinctly remember laying myself down on a carpeted step in the back of the room (filled with a couple hundred people) and that's pretty much the last thing I remember about that portion of the conference.

Best paid meeting I've ever attended. :)

  6. What beautiful pictures. I can't go on any of those rides any more. I don't know what happened. I feel old. The oldest 35 year old ever : (

  9. I agree! I have developed motion sickness and car sickness over the past year and a half... around the time I got married. The frequent nausea had me freaking out that I might be pregnant all the time even though I was on birth control. Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

And your pictures are great. I love the lights. I need to work on exposure and shooting in the dark. I hope they turn out this good.

  13. OMG...I can totally relate! I've always suffered from motion sickness, but it's gotten SO MUCH WORSE with my...ahem...more mature years. As a kid, I lived on the swing set without any ill effects, but for sure that could never happen again! I always keep hearing that it's meant to get better as you get older, but just the act of looking up too quickly after reading something will send my head spinning and stomach churning these days :P.

Well done with your 'fair' photos! They're gorgeous...especially considering the price you paid with the nausea factor in order to capture them ;)
