Trust in the Lord

I have a feeling you'll be seeing a whole lotta "power outage"/"snowpocalypse" photos over these next few days as that is what has consumed most of my life... Our church was out of power for just about 3 days and we weren't sure if we'd be able to attend our normal Saturday services or not... Light/Heat/Electricity was restored that morning though and I couldn't have been more grateful. To be honest, I'm not sure what else was said other than:

I've had so many conversations lately with folks (including myself... yes. I talk to myself.) about how difficult it is to "commit" yourself to the Lord.
"Well... what if I really decide to trust in the Lord but I don't see any change?"
"I want to be a different person - but I don't think I can be or the process is to hard."

Two simple truths from Psalm 37:5

1. If you give yourself to the Lord. He WILL act. No ifs ands or buts. That's a promise. He will move and be at work in your life if you trust in him. That's it. Period.

2. If you take the first steps to commit yourself to him. If you just trust that he fulfills his promises (see #1)... Then HE will act. We pretend like being a "good christian" is all about what WE can do instead of what HE does in us.

Trust that he will. and he WILL.

I LOVE natural disasters. (haha). As long as no one's getting hurt - I will take a snow storm, wind storm, thunder and lightning... you name it. I enjoy it. Pics here are from our make-shift dinner. A little propane on the porch makes for a delicious chili dinner cooked by my brother-in-law for us and our neighbors.

(love the way the pictures look! ... My camera was not a fan though - I had to get obscenely close in order to snap these photos. I'm one of those crazy picture people. I admit it.)

and then, she {snapped}

  1. What a cool picture! I was however a little more impressed though with your words about Trust. I just posted about trust a few moments ago. After reading your post, I have faced TRUST five times in the last 30 hours...I believe God is trying to tell me something! Thanks for showing off your incredible shot!

  6. I do believe He's been teaching a lot of people about trust these days ... He wants us to realize that there really isn't anything, or anyone else we can truly trust in!! Great reminder of one of His many promises to us, and I really love your photos, Christina! Those blue flames are awesome ... yep, it's always good to be prepared just in case there are any of those natural disasters in our neck of the woods! I like the fact that you were reaching out to your neighbors, too! We had multiple power outages last year, and our supplies sure came in handy ... it was also another opportunity for us to trust in the Lord!! :)
