I want to ride my....

My new helmet came in the mail... Spent a pretty penny on it since I've got to ride my bike on the freeway in order to get anywhere. I love "my" bike.... A hand-me-down from my father-in-law... who rode it in France way back when they were stationed across the lake. She's seen a lot of life. And this season... she's seen a lot of dust. I'm not a hard-core cyclist who enjoys riding in the rain. I'm the kind of girl who likes to take the bike out on a Sunny Sunday afternoon and ride the 10 miles to the ice cream shop in the neighboring town... or take it out early in the morning to ride the 5 miles to work on a Sunny spring/summer's day...

We haven't had any of those yet. I want to wear my new helmet. But people think it's weird when I'm not riding my bike. Hopefully the rain will let up and my bike (and my body) will see the sunshine again.

The secret to marriage...

... I haven't found... but one thing I know has been good for us. Days away. We don't have any kids but we've got jobs and a home that is good to escape. Get away for the day and do the things you love. Be in the place that makes you feel most at home...

Seattle.

We recently headed north for the Seattle Bike Expo. And a day together in Seattle is never complete without a trip to TopPot & Zeeks pizza.

Where do you go to get away?

Where has the time gone?

Man, I really missed a few days there... I guess I needed it though. While the husband was away over the weekend I spent probably over 6 hours at the park with the puppy. We had a great time. And, I kid you not, there was a time - after 2.5 hours walking the trails at Fort Steilacoom Park and snapping photos with my D90, that I just sat down on a log in the middle of an open field. I shut my eyes and felt the warmth of the sun on my face... I haven't been that relaxed in MONTHS... What a blissful moment that was. Then a few preteen boys rounded the corner and I heard one of them shout - "Man! This would be a great place for a zombie apocalypse!"... My kinda kids. I couldn't help but laugh.

So... I'm catching up here with what should have been up a few days ago - my project 366. One of the things I'm learning in this process is I need to take photos with a little more variety... Otherwise at the end of the year I'm pretty sure I'll just think that all I did was snap pics of the dog and stare at the cello. I'll work on that for this coming week.

Finally... Friday - February 3rd - it was desperately needed (as you can see)

Friday Photo Shoot: A Mother's Love

The story began (well... it began a long time ago) but on this little blog the story began a few weeks ago when I got to check a new item off of my "bucket list" (although I hope to NOT kick the bucket at 50... see the left side of the blog) Then it continued when I got to post the first half of this little cuties photo shoot with his proud daddy (my brother). Unfortunately my sister-in-law was sick and couldn't make it to our little photo-shoot (she even missed a baby shower poor thing!) So we had some significant catching up to do. I am super happy to finally get to post some photos of the three of them together and the precious "Mother's love" photos as well. I hope that these are as much of a blessing to them as it was a blessing for me to photograph them.

I suppose the following pictures are what you get when the house doesn't stop with a newborn... This little guy insisted on sneaking into the photos... pretty incognito, don't you think?
