Thankful Thursday: What's Next

Sometimes I feel like a little kid... Doesn't take much to change a kiddos mood... I remember once when I was a nanny that I took one of "my girls" to the doctor for shots... We sat there waiting for the doctor and she looked at me with tear soaked eyes just after the needle went in... I looked at her and said "Do you want to go for ice cream on the way home?" It didn't stop the tears from rolling down her sweet chubby cheeks but she wasn't thinking about the pain - she was thinking about which flavor she was going to choose. She felt the pain - she knew it was there but her mind was trying to focus on what's next.

I guess I should have said that sometimes I WISH I could feel like a little kid... aware of the "pain" - but willing to move on to what's next.

The hubs and I attended the Youth Specialties - National Youth Workers Convention earlier this fall and the main verse just popped into my head today... (No, this isn't Monday, but I'm thankful for this verse so I'm blogging scripture twice in one week... sue me.)

This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It's adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike "What's next, Papa?" Romans 8:15

So what is it? What's next for me? ... I struggle with wanting to know the big picture, don't you? Don't you just want your plans laid out for you?

I walked into the school district building yesterday inquiring about a 1/4 time counseling position open at one of the schools... The grumpy lady gracious Human Relations representative looked at me with a quizzical expression and said - "Ummm.... are you a counselor?" As if she couldn't take me seriously. I'd like to wear a T-shirt everywhere I go that says "Masters graduate - Marriage and Family Therapist", so that people would think I'm (somewhat) legit... But I realize that would do just the opposite...

What's next papa?

  1. I like the photos you posted! What a great reminder to trust Christ with childlike faith.

  2. I hear you on the rant for sure- :) People sometimes!!

Love the clouds in your photos-

  3. I know that it is frustrating when everything that you want seems to be "out there" in the future and you want to grab it and have it right now. I feel that way! - But God has a way of making us live one day at a time. This is a lesson that I have the learn over and over again. Which make me ask, am I really learning it if I have to keep learning it? LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!!
